What is a "blog"?

No seriously....what is it? I took some time a few days back to research it, not only research it but compare it to other networking tools just to see how much cross-over there really is:  I think you might agree that the attraction towards blogging, as opposed to the social networks (Facebook, Twitter and the rest), is the network seems to protect the blogger from being bombarded with all the linked activities and nonsense you can't help but read from the news feed. Way too often even the dearest of acquaintances will use the news feed for their grandiose bowl movement.

I ask the question because I am still unsure how to properly use a blog site. So now I am just creating one to see what will happen. One thing that stood out when I researched the differences and the one detail that seemed attractive for the blog side of the argument, was that bloggers experience more freedom to controlling the appearance and site changes. I can testify as can anyone that has been on Facebook for more than a year, that the changes are not merely prescribed but are rammed down the users throat. This creates an unstable environment for the user.

Today on Facebook, I attempted several times to upload a one minute clip for my studio. Nothing significant...just a clip to give a viewer the idea of what screen I am looking at for hours on end when I am attempting to mix a song. Every attempt required about an hour of waiting to complete the upload. Then the upload window would disappear and I found myself staring at nothing and no explanation for the failure. Let's upload that clip here now to give me a physical comparison.

Well it says it is uploading. I am a little sore from my earlier experiences...a little sceptical.

I just want to create a site where I can post or otherwise release my creations in the studio. I am seriously looking at blogging as my tool.
