Introducing Eminent Domain To Studio

Eminent Domain sounds like a likely band name for a couple of ex Landmen. Since Dale Hillman has hit our studios, new material has just "BAM" popped up out of the blue. Dale and I are looking at least an EP of material to collaborate on. It will be a politically driven piece featuring Hillman on the slide guitar and myself on various instruments (I might even drum). Work will most likely start soon after the completion of Hillmans' Perception CD. Speaking of which...

...things are coming to fruition on the Dale Hillman CD. The 13 track recording will be titled Perception Equals Reality. The studio is leaning ever closer to completing the album. The recordings have definitely captured a catchy, foot-tapping energy. We are so excited to be working on this with Dale. All the songs are individual gems that capture a time gone by, and still seem refreshing. To mention a few: Perception Equals Reality, Stay With Me and Old Same Thing are standing out as good fast rock songs. Throw in a mix of love songs and some pokes at the establishment and let the revolution begin. Looking to have an early year release on this one.

Blackwaters' CD, False Bottom, is being looked at for more changes. We feel it can be vastly improved on and are holding back on releasing anymore recordings. It is more than likely that those Blackwater songs that have been released on Youtube will sound much different when the CD is finally released.

Studio begins work with Dale Hillman

Today was a great day in the studio. After a month or so of schedule conflicts, we were finally able to get Dale Hillman to do an initial recording with AuRum. There is a lot of material in the queue, but today we focused on his main core songs. Some of the songs recorded exhibited Dales expertise on the slide guitar. This is exciting material and some gems will be produced from these works.

His audiences have described him as having a Neil Young sound, but when you hear his slide work you can definitely hear a likeness to Jimmy Page in his earlier Led Zeppelin recordings. Dale has also attributed the Beatles as having a strong influence on his music.

The messages from the songs are very positive and powerful. Hillman could be just the folk hero we need to shake us loose from the numbing music culture we have evolved to. Welcome aboard Dale, looking forward to working with you in the near future.

Currently the studio is about to release a handful of songs from the two bands we have been working with. Civil Disobedience has Die Schickeria, So Into You, River's Gold, Down The Sukunka, and 2 covers, Can't You Hear My Heartbeat and If Not For You. Blackwater will be releasing Frontal Lobe Damage, The Piper, Garden, Zaxxon Zombies, and 1 cover, Meatplow. And there will be much more from these artists later this summer.

Is the studio going to release any new songs?

I know it has been a long time since AuRum has released an actual song on their You Tube channel. The reality: similar to making an arrangement to a song, an arrangement must be considered for its release upon the general public. AuRum is currently deciding the best way to handle current and future material for both audio prepared in the studio, and the visual material presented on the songs video. Using original material for both whenever possible is the focus. Trying to avoid possible claims to copyright infringement and defamation of character law suits.

"We are no longer going to be content with placing movie stars or political figures in the videos without their permission", added AuRum, "it is too risky yet using original material opens up an entire new avenue of artistic expression."

"So the delays that we are experiencing are largely due to adding an original video element to the current songs that are ready to go"..."also we have to protect our own originals with copyright which requires the balancing of two factors: keeping our costs down by copyrighting as many originals as possible at once, while remaining productive on release times."

"Charlie In The Trees was released and copyrights in place in 2011, so it was easy to crank out the entire works over a short period of time"...."now we are taking our time and doing things right, and we hope to find our stride soon."

AuRum has come up with a partnership plan for handing a large part of video production to other individuals interested in this art form. Decrepit Leprechaun is one such group that will be giving them a hand. We are anticipating videos to be released soon by recording artists such as Civil Disobedience and Blackwater.

Moving forward with Blackwater and Civil Disobedience

With recordings of Charlie In The Trees safely in the vault, AuRum Sounds will be working on a few new projects. Enough material is ready for the new rock band Civil Disobedience to look at a few quick CD releases. There first CD will be titled Rearview which will be released in the late Spring and will feature a retrospective approach. Die Schickeria, an instrumental track that is already finalized, has a very 60's groove. Six songs have been selected for a mini-CD, to be handed out to attendees at a wedding in July of 2012. It will consist of 2 cover songs, which are almost ready for release, and 4 originals including Schickeria. Stay tuned for more...

It is going to get a little crazy in here. We are also looking at another CD release by mid-Summer. AuRum will also be releasing cover songs recorded by heavy metal band Blackwater. Judas Priest's song Deceiver is amongst them.

Charlie In The Trees

We started our studio with the volatile presence of a group named Charlie In The Trees. The band seemed to be lost - looking for a genre to be a part of, yet failing to exist in any of them. They have material that came out as comedy yet some of their works would have been considered quite serious with its topic material. Mostly influenced by heavy metal artists but seldom finding the edge to be classified themselves as heavy metal artists. Some may consider them critical activists and others would say that they were nonsensical posers. They spent the majority of their studio time barely able to stand up, but were able to record enough material to release a CD named The Execution Of Mickey. This CD was an allegorical spin on the fall of Christ, using Disney's Mickey Mouse as the part of martyr. It included 14 tracks which largely incorporated music with a very insane microphone feedback technique. Here is Load The Bowl, track 1 on The Execution Of Mickey.

Charlie In The Trees were only together for a year and as they say in Facebookland regarding break-ups, "it's complicated". Their recordings which produced close to 50 tracks spanned from March of 2009 to the following Spring of 2010. It was crazy, but fun as well...very happy to be moving on from then.

Arrrrghh...stop the upload insanity....pleassssse!!!!

Well.....my first attempt didn't work. Alas...it is probably me and not the system. Let us try another avenue:

Whoa!! There it is!

Now I need to get onto some design issues for this blog site. I really like this narrative that escapes me whilst I try to set this new world up. Blog, blog, blog...why doesn't this guy shut up already? 4 cups of coffee and I am outta booze...that's why. Just kidding....oh my God...I am getting somewhere...I didn't abbreviate those last 2 expressions. You will never catch me saying shit like: "laughing out loud" or that I am "rolling on the floor laughing". I prefer to say:  I am about to die because I am laughing my fucking head off. By the way...are we allowed to swear on here?

What is a "blog"?

No seriously....what is it? I took some time a few days back to research it, not only research it but compare it to other networking tools just to see how much cross-over there really is:  I think you might agree that the attraction towards blogging, as opposed to the social networks (Facebook, Twitter and the rest), is the network seems to protect the blogger from being bombarded with all the linked activities and nonsense you can't help but read from the news feed. Way too often even the dearest of acquaintances will use the news feed for their grandiose bowl movement.

I ask the question because I am still unsure how to properly use a blog site. So now I am just creating one to see what will happen. One thing that stood out when I researched the differences and the one detail that seemed attractive for the blog side of the argument, was that bloggers experience more freedom to controlling the appearance and site changes. I can testify as can anyone that has been on Facebook for more than a year, that the changes are not merely prescribed but are rammed down the users throat. This creates an unstable environment for the user.

Today on Facebook, I attempted several times to upload a one minute clip for my studio. Nothing significant...just a clip to give a viewer the idea of what screen I am looking at for hours on end when I am attempting to mix a song. Every attempt required about an hour of waiting to complete the upload. Then the upload window would disappear and I found myself staring at nothing and no explanation for the failure. Let's upload that clip here now to give me a physical comparison.

Well it says it is uploading. I am a little sore from my earlier experiences...a little sceptical.

I just want to create a site where I can post or otherwise release my creations in the studio. I am seriously looking at blogging as my tool.
